Introduction to Discussion about the Edge.

The edge of maps in the 15th Century defined the ends of the world. Columbus, sailing fearlessly to the edge and beyond, found Hispaniola. Much earlier, Eric the Red and Leif Ericsson sailed west beyond any edge and found North America. In the 20th Century, looking at the Mandelbrot Set, the edge is a series of ever changing fractals, entropic with enormous energy. Today, astronomers look to the heavens to discover our beginning. Scientists look into the atom and see our future. All we need do is look in front of us.
