At the California Museum of Science and Industry, Los Angeles; California Wine. The Science of an Art is a multi-media exhibition tracing the complete wine process, starting with the vine and earth, through the sciences and on further into human physiology. The exhibit uses a new learning technology, "No Boundary Processing" developed by Louis Nelson.
The exhibition is cast in an ambience of constantly changing light and color. The far wall in the main gallery is dominated by a bright back-lighted Wine Landscape, a living glowing 3-dimensional wall incorporating the process and sciences of wine making.
In the center of this space are two large
kiosks reminiscent of stainless steel vats.
These cylinders contain interactive touchscreen
video monitors for games of knowledge and information. Other walls include information from genetics to Microclimates to myths about wine, metabolism,
aroma, memory and the consequences of
alcohol abuse. State-of-the-art video disc
and interactive computer technology is
operated by 27 disc players.
